Vision Expo East will take be taking place once again at the Javitz Center in New York between the 15 and 18 March 2018.
Eyewear is the main event, featuring sunwear, accessories and retail merchandise
This year is about changing your look…. so, whether you wear glasses all day, every day, or just every so often, let’s take a look at what will be catching your eye at this year’s show.
According to Laura Wilson, the eyewear design manager at eyewear retailer, clearly.ca, the general mood for eyewear in 2018 is all about self-care and wellness. Looking after yourself is top priority, so it’s no longer just about looking good, it’s also about feeling good, making sure the fit of your glasses is comfortable and the lenses keep your eyes feeling well all-day long.
Thin gold metal frames
This year will see a lot of thin gold metal, frameless and lightweight frames. In fact, the trend ‘the thinner the better’, fits in well with the theme of self-care, comfort and easy-to-wear.
A good example of the trend comes from Moscot who have updated their classic Moscot Lemtosh model with a gold titanium frame. Not only does it add luxury, it also adds lightness, giving its most famous style both a glamorous and a functional upgrade.

Tortoise shell frames remain popular in 2018 with OGI Eyewear being one of many brands expected to show variations on the tortoise shell theme at their booth at Vision Expo East.
There is a huge amount of color palettes available of this pattern, so it will be simple to find the perfect pair to match your individual skin tone and hair color.
The re-emergence of the classic aviator frame will be one of the 2018’s biggest eyewear trends, with oversized aviators offering the most up-to-date look.
Although they’ve been trending for a while, we’re now seeing more innovative and unique aviators come to the forefront, showing off how versatile the aviator style is.
Millennial’s parents began the aviator style, but far from stealing their parent’s style, millennials are taking it and making it their own.
Aviator metal frame glasses are considered iconic and timeless, and work well for both men and women. As well as aviator sunglasses, aviator eyeglasses are also becoming popular, worn as a stylish accessory or with prescription lenses.
Hipster square glasses
Hipster glasses are a great way to stand out from the crowd as they feature unique designs, usually in heavy square silhouettes that you don’t see every day. They suit creative men and women who want to show off their playful personality.
eyebobs eyewear has developed a cult following for its stylish, colorful reading glasses geared toward the ‘irreverent and slightly jaded’ since its 2001 debut. They will be including the latest hipster style on their booth at Vision Expo East this year.

The red glasses trend with its variations, be it pink or purple glasses is mostly destined for women. These sweet color women’s eyeglasses are hip and bold, and a perfect choice for a fashionista. Round frames are beautiful and simple. Worn by the likes of John Lennon they have always been a symbol of free spirits and creative people. Round eyeglasses frames are a great choice for men and women who want to change their look. The retro silhouette shape is suited for both square and rectangular shaped faces, guaranteeing you’ll get noticed.
They can be mixed and matched with a variety of outfits, ranging from business smart to hipster sweaters and hats.
Ic! Berlin have used the round style in their latest range and are expected to have a large presence at Vision Expo East 2018. The limited edition froufrou brings mod into the 21st century with its oversized circular lenses.
Cat-eye glasses and sunglasses are a model that will never go out of style, and are a must in every woman’s wardrobe. They can be worn winter, spring or summer and are so versatile that they fit in with most outfits and settings.
Dita has introduced several innovative concept frames for Spring 2018. One of their latest frames is Nightbird One, with the cat-eye style and relying upon tension to hold its wing-shaped ombre lenses, creating its own unique design.
