U.S based fashion brand Simply Southern Tees (SST) manufactures and sells its own product lines and is in the midst of quickly expanding its reach and operations beyond the Southern U.S. The company, which specializes in T-shirts, apparel, and other fashion items, sells to boutiques and retail stores across eight states, servicing over 1,200 customers.

Using the traditional pen-and-paper order writing, sales reps used their own ordering forms and faxed them at the end of each day. This created an inefficient work process with tremendous amounts of inefficiencies for the back office staff that had to retype orders, each with up to 200-300 items, into the company’s QuickBooks accounting system.    

With plans for national expansion, the fashion brand had to address the following challenges with Quickbooks ecommerce:

Mistakes in re-entering orders - a team of 30 in-house and independent sales reps generated large volume, hand-written orders that had to be retyped by back-office staff, which increased errors in orders and created additional work to provide clarification.

Delayed orders and decreasing customer satisfaction - manual order-taking created an inefficient workflow and poor order management that often hindered order shipment and ultimately hurt customer satisfaction.

Most sales reps are independent reps - a mobile sales app would have to support the company’s BYOD (bring your own device) policy, since SST could not dictate which mobile device independent reps used. The app would have to be compatible with iOS (iPads and iPhones), Android, and Windows operating systems.

From Paper to Digital in 8 weeks
In an effort to streamline their sales ordering process, SST implemented Pepperi’s mobile sales platform for its entire sales force, within 8 weeks, completely eliminating manual order-taking. The new sales process extended the company’s QuickBooks accounting system to the field sales organization, and sales reps now have online and offline access to an electronic product catalog of over 800 items.

The e-catalog is smartly configured with business-driven filters to steer sales of items on promotion, in-stock, and customers’ top-selling items. Sales orders are generated by sales reps using a mobile shopping cart, and sales orders are validated - in real time - against the QuickBooks system. Customers receive immediate order confirmation via email, and order fulfillment begins as soon as the Submit button is tapped.

Smooth onboarding - sales reps quickly acclimatized to the mobile sales solution and embraced it as their everyday sales acceleration tool.

Streamlined order-to-cash - back-office order processing mistakes were reduced by 95%, significantly shortening the order-to-cash cycle and improving customer satisfaction.

Quick adoption - Pepperi runs as a native mobile app on all mobile operating systems, enabling SST’s independent sales reps to have access to the app on any device they use; within 3 months of going live, almost 80% of the company's orders were captured through the mobile sales app.
